KSMS Jamshedpur Wins Scouts and Guides Founder’s Day Trophy

Jamshedpur: The Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) of East Singhbhum celebrated the 169th birth anniversary of Lord Baden-Powell with grand festivities at the Sakchi headquarters on Sunday. Under the leadership of District Organizing Commissioner Naresh Kumar, nearly 150 students from 10 local schools gathered to honor the legacy of the scouting movement’s founder.

A Tribute to the Legacy of Baden-Powell

The event began at 9:30 AM with scouts, guides, cubs, and bulbuls paying floral tributes to Lord Stephenson Baden-Powell. District Organizing Commissioner Naresh Kumar opened the ceremony with an all-faith prayer, emphasizing the movement’s commitment to unity. Chief Guest Satish Barnwal, Vice President of the District BSG, performed the ceremonial flag hoisting to officially kick off the competitive events.

Competition Results and Winners

Students competed in four major categories, showcasing their skills in public speaking, art, and traditional performance. Kerala Samajam Model School (KSMS) emerged as the dominant force of the day, securing the Overall Championship trophy.

Key Competition Highlights:

  • Speech: Atharva Kumar (KSMS) took first place, followed by Abhi Kumari (KSMS) and Achintya Vikram (DBMS).

  • Drawing: Diyuttama Biswas (St. Peter’s School, Karandih) clinched the top spot, with Arnav Singh (DBMS Kadma) and Bhavana Mishra (KSMS) rounding out the top three.

  • Handicrafts: Anant Prakash Jain (DBMS Kadma) won first prize, while Humaira (KSMS) took second.

  • Group Folk Dance: St. Peter’s School, Karandih, earned the first-place trophy for their vibrant performance.

Honoring Excellence and Veteran Leadership

The celebration also served as a platform to recognize long-standing dedication to the scouting movement.

  • Best Scout Master: Navin Panda of DAV Bistupur received this prestigious individual award.

  • Veteran Recognition: The organization honored several veteran scouters who received the President’s Award over four decades ago, including Guru Charan Singh, Gokul Nand Verma, and Jai Kumar Chaudhary.

  • Special Mentions: District Guide Trainer Brahmjit Kaur and BSG Secretary Chandramani Modi successfully coordinated the day’s proceedings, with mementos awarded to several scout masters and guide captains for their organizational support.
