Nalanda (IANS): The death toll from the tragic stampede at the Mata Sheetla Temple has risen to eight, with eight others injured, police confirmed Tuesday.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Deepnagar Police Station during prayer rituals on Tuesday. According to a police statement, the situation “suddenly spiralled out of control due to severe overcrowding” as devotees gathered for worship.
Upon receiving the report, Nalanda District Police and local residents launched immediate rescue operations. Senior officials, including Patna Division Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, Nalanda District Magistrate Kundan Kumar, and Superintendent of Police Bharat Soni, arrived on-site to supervise relief efforts and ensure the injured received advanced medical care at nearby hospitals.
