Jamshedpur: On the occasion of Nagula Chauthi, members of the Telugu community in Jamshedpur worshipped Nag Devta. Nagula Chauthi is observed on the Chaturthi date of the Kartik month, and according to tradition, worshippers performed rituals in snake holes a day before the main celebration.
The rituals involved breaking and cleaning the upper parts of the snake’s hole, lighting lamps, and placing a new red-colored pot. Offerings, including small laddus made from a mixture of sesame seeds and jaggery, banana, milk, and water, were presented to the snake god. The mud from the snake’s hole was applied to the ear as part of the ritual to alleviate ear pain.
Devotees engaged in these activities across various locations in Jamshedpur, such as Jubilee Park, Golf Ground, Kadma Sonari Link Road, Telco, Birsanagar, Tinplate, Golmuri Golf Course, Parsudih, and Loco Colony. The puja is performed to seek the blessings of the snake god for family happiness and peace.
