Ghatsila, Dec 7: Noted film director and script writer of Bollywood, Dr. Iqbal Durrani visited Lakhidih village where he was greeted by, among others, Mukhiya Kanhu Ram Tudu along with other villagers. Dr Durrani was greeted in a traditional manner by men and women. Clad in dhoti and traditional tribal attire, he was presented with dance and musical performances by women and men of the village. Dr Durrani said on the occasion, “I have been seriously thinking since the past four years of making a movie to highlight traditional tribal culture, extremist activities, lifestyle of villagers. It pains me no end that the rich tribal tradition has not been presented in proper light. There is a forest tract replete with mountains and natural waterfalls about 60 kilometers away from Mumbai, but there are no traditional facets to attract people and filmmakers. This time around, I am determined to produce a film based on traditional tribal culture. At least 40 percent of the artistes will represent the tribal communities. Those selected will be trained in a workshop prior to the shooting.”
DDC Parmeshwar Bhagat, who accompanied Dr Iqbal Durrani to Lakhidih said that the administration was making efforts for the development of Lakhidih village. “People in villages should participate as artistes in Dr Durrani’s project as it would provide the essential platform for tribal lifestyles and traditions.”
Earlier, Mukhiya Kanhu Ram Tudu delivered the welcome address. The vote of thanks was offered by BDO Sadhucharan Devgam. CO Ram Naresh Soni, police station in-charge Vinod Tudu, Santosh Kumar Sharan and rural women and men were present on the occasion.
