According to dermatologist Dr. AN Jha, the rise in infections can be attributed to several factors exacerbated by the humid and rainy conditions. Heat, sweat, humidity, and wearing damp clothing create ideal environments for bacterial and fungal growth. Dr. Jha points out that fungus thrives in moist areas, particularly between toes and on palms, which are further aggravated by contact with contaminated rainwater.

To address these issues, Dr. AN Jha advises practical measures for prevention and relief: Promptly dry sweat, especially during hot weather, to prevent bacterial growth. Avoid prolonged wearing of damp or wet clothes, changing into dry clothes immediately after they become wet. Ensure thorough washing of clothes with hot water to eliminate fungal spores. Caution against using over-the-counter creams without medical advice, as they may not be suitable and can potentially harm the skin.
