Jamshedpur, Nov 12: Expenditure Observer Ranu Mukherjee convened a meeting of all district election officials at Circuit House on Tuesday. She directed them to keep an eye on the expenses of all candidates and political parties. She said the instructions of Election Commission of India in this regard should be followed in letter and spirit.
Mukherjee said all cells formed by the district administration to keep account of expenses of candidates should work in tandem to ensure effective monitoring. Flying squads should keep an eye on suspicious cash transactions, liquor distribution or distribution of suspicious material or articles that may be used as bribe. Prompt action should be taken against those violating the Model Code of Conduct, she said.
The meeting was also attended by deputy development commissioner B Maheshwari, SDO Dhalbhum Chandan Kumar, Deputy Collector Treasury Ravindra Gagrai and assistant expenditure observers.
