Jamshedpur, March 7: Police in Bagbera acted swiftly to arrest a man accused of molesting a young woman and attempting to forcibly kiss her in the Bagbera police station area of Jamshedpur.
The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by the victim.
According to the information received, the incident occurred around 6:50 pm on March 5 near a government school on Road No. 3 under the Bagbera police station area.
A youth allegedly misbehaved with a woman in her early twenties, attempting to grab her and forcibly kiss her.
The woman managed to free herself from the accused and immediately informed the police about the incident.
After the incident, the victim went directly to Bagbera police station and lodged a written complaint.
Acting promptly, the police registered a case and began an investigation.
Officers questioned local residents and launched a search operation to trace the accused.
During the investigation, the police team conducted a raid on March 6 and arrested the named accused, Kanhaiya Rajak, a local resident.
Police officials stated that Rajak has prior cases registered against him at Bagbera police station, including incidents related to assault and molestation.
He is currently in custody and being interrogated as the investigation continues.
Confirming the development, City SP Kumar Shivashish said that a case was registered based on the victim’s complaint and the accused was arrested through prompt police action.
Further legal proceedings in the matter are underway.
