Mohalla choupal helping administration reach out to people: DC

71 beneficiaries get benefit of various schemes in Raghubar Nagar

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar on Sunday said the district administration was organizing mohalla choupal (neighbourhood meeting) in all wards of the city with the view to provide a platform to the people to speak about their problems and issues that need urgent address.

The DC, addressing a mohalla choupal at the community development building in Raghubar Nagar Colony, said the people of all the wards under Jamshedpur Notified Area should come forward and speak up on the various issues related to basic civic amenities and other matters related to government schemes and projects.

Kumar said the very purpose behind organizing mohalla choupal was to make sure that people do not have to run from pillar to post to get their grievances heard by the authorities concerned. He appealed to all ward residents to attend the choupals in their locality without fail and get benefitted.

Praising the JNAC officials for organizing the choupal, the DC said they should take up district level issues with the senior district administration officials.
Also present on the occasion was Pawan Agrawal, representative of Chief Minister Raghubar Das.

He said the state government was making sincere efforts to increase public participation in the implementation of development and welfare schemes in a bid to improve public amenities. He said this is the first time when a government in Jharkhand was taking such steps.

Jharkhand State Transport Authority member Rambabu Tiwary appealed to people to keep their locality clean.

During the choupal, 71 beneficiaries were given benefits of various government schemes. As many as 26 people lodged grievances with the officials concerned and also gave suggestions on various issues.

Among others present on the occasion included Khemlal Choudhary, Deepak Jha, Shiv Shankar, Meera Sharma, JNAC City Manager Ravi Bharati, Sonal Singh, Ranjan Pandey, Harikant Upadhyaya and Geeta Kumari.
