Mock drill for Durga Puja preparedness in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Sept 26: : In anticipation of the upcoming Durga Puja festivities in the steel city, the district police conducted a comprehensive mock drill at the Golmuri police lines today.

The exercise was aimed to keep the police force well-prepared to respond effectively to any emergency situation that may arise during the grand festival.

Led by SSP Kaushal Kishore, the mock drill unfolded for over a period of more than two hours and involved a wide range of simulated scenarios. Policemen demonstrated their readiness by firing shots, deploying teargas shells, utilizing water cannons, and executing lathi charges.

With over 200 policemen and numerous police officials participating in the exercise, the mock drill served as a valuable training opportunity. It instilled confidence among the officers, reinforcing their ability to handle various emergency situations during the bustling festival.

 The city witnesses the more than 350 public Pujas, attracting a large number of Puja revelers who go for pandal-hopping.

However, the festive season also brings an increase in criminal activities, including snatching and eve-teasing. In crowded areas, minor incidents can potentially escalate into major law and order issues, necessitating the preparedness of the district police.

Apart from managing vehicular traffic, the district police face the challenging task of monitoring antisocial elements during this period. Ensuring the safety and security of the public is paramount, and the district police remain committed to maintaining law and order during the festive season.
