Jamshedpur, April 12: Motilal Nehru Public School (MNPS) celebrated Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) Community day programme with nearly 200 students getting hands on experience at tinkering in the ATL.
The session kickstarted with Arjun Murarka, chairperson, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Young Indians, Jamshedpur chapter and Aditi Murarka engaging with students on the theme of “Ideation”.
The students understood terms like brainstorming and design thinking. Yet another stimulating session by Rahul Barik, a vibrant Engineer with Cognizant, showcased the use of micro controllers in making robots. A lively power point presentation added to the talk kept the students active and attentive.

In an endeavor to inculcate curiosity and develop scientific temperament in the young within the community, the school opened its doors to students of the community. Students of Sacred Heart Convent, Dayanand Public School, Kasidih High school, Arya Samaj, Balichela High School and Prem Jyoti prangan school participated.
The ATL community day marks the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar.
The programme was guided by the directives of Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog and AICTE, Ministry of Education’s Innovation cell who have announced their strategic collaboration to empower ATL school students for world class future ready innovation skills across the country.
The objective of this ATL program is to foster curiosity, creativity and imagination in young minds and to inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning etc to be in synch with global scenario.
Students of MNPS presented innovative activities such as Alchemy fun, Tinkering with my family, Soldering Champions, I can make electrons move to name a few. All the models were explained by the young innovators. There was a competition named “Spaghetti Bridge Building” held in ATL lab. Four teams participated and team 2 comprising of Chirag Anand- 11A, Piyush Kumar- 8A, Anshuman Tiwary – 11A and Yash Kumar- 8 C emerged as the winner of the competition.
The resource person Rahul Kr Barik and Arjun Muraraka wished the students many happy hours of tinkering. They gave inputs to the students on how to further improve their ideation and innovations.
Motilal Nehru Public School proudly set its step into the noble mission of knowledge enhancement as “Skilled India is the need of the hour”. This event truly exhibited the spirit of making in taking India to greater heights.
