Jamshedpur: Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC) authorities launched an anti-encroachment campaign at Mango on Friday. A sum of Rs 28,600 was collected in fine from 50 persons reportedly found encroaching the main road from Mango Chowk to Dimna Chowk. The campaign was led by the special officer of MNAC Sanjay Kumar.

Kumar said the anti-encroachment campaign was bound to yield good results for the public despite causing displeasure to the encroachers for the time being. He said the people should cooperate with the MNAC in its operation to remove encroachment from the roads. He said the people fined today had encroached part of the main road including drains.

The MNAC team comprised its city manager S Rehman, assistant engineer Roshan Ranjan, Chunmun Choudhary of Mango Bazar Suraksha Samiti and junior engineer Devesh Kumar. Local police officials were also present on the occasion.

The MNAC authorities said the campaign would continue indefinitely to ensure that the roads are free from encroachment.
