Jamshedpur, May 3: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy conducted a thorough tour of his assembly constituency, visiting areas like Chhayanagar, Chandinagar, Kalyannagar, Slag Road, Neeti Bagh, and Dhobighat from 7 am to 9.30 am. During his visit, Roy interacted with numerous residents to gather information regarding issues such as cleanliness, drainage, electricity supply, and drinking water.
Expressing dismay over the prevailing unhygienic conditions, Roy took immediate action by contacting officials from Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (UISL) and the electrical executive engineer to address the identified problems. He noted the widespread presence of filth and instructed concerned departments to initiate cleaning activities promptly.
However, Roy voiced his disappointment at the absence of sanitation workers from Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) despite repeated complaints. He observed instances of sand and gravel trade on Slag Road and promptly notified Sitaramdera police station to investigate its legality. Additionally, Roy highlighted issues such as unclean drains and encroachments, particularly in front of DAV School on Slag Road.

Residents’ grievances regarding water bill discrepancies and delayed water connections were promptly addressed by Roy, who notified JUSCO’s Drinking Water General Manager to resolve the issues urgently. Despite residents’ eagerness to submit forms for water supply, JUSCO’s lack of responsiveness was noted.
Roy concluded that the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee’s lax approach towards cleanliness and public facilities is a significant concern. He emphasized the municipality’s duty to prioritize cleanliness and vowed to take necessary actions to compel compliance if the situation persists. Roy underscored the importance of public pressure to ensure the fulfillment of municipal responsibilities and hinted at the possibility of judicial intervention if required.
