MLA Saryu Roy Visits Sonari, Kadma, Assures Swift Resolution of Civic Problems 

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy toured several areas of Sonari and Kadma on Friday. Residents shared their grievances with Roy, who assured them that his office would resolve their issues swiftly.

Roy visited the Joggers Park, Nirmal Basti, Panchavati Nagar, and Zahira Basti in Sonari. In Nirmal Basti, residents pointed out massive piles of trash and complained that the waste had been accumulating for several days due to a complete breakdown in regular sanitation services.

When Roy arrived at Zahira Basti, residents showed him the ongoing installation of new paver blocks. The locals complained about poor workmanship, noting that the paver blocks wobble and create an uneven surface when walked upon. They alleged that the contractor used an inadequate amount of sand base during construction.

The MLA then moved to Panchavati Nagar, where contractors had abandoned an open trench dug for a drain, causing severe commuting hazards for passersby. The residents of Panchavati Nagar also complained that JUSCO (now TSUISL) has disrupted the water supply across several pockets. Roy assured them of a prompt resolution. Residents living near the Santoshi Mata Temple in Kadma and the lower low-lying areas informed him that the handpumps are spewing contaminated water.

Addressing the slum dwellers, Roy said that he had met the Deputy Commissioner on Thursday to discuss how certain agencies hesitate to provide water and electricity connections to these settlements. He requested the DC to convene a joint meeting with Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (TSUISL—formerly JUSCO) and the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) to fix these systemic bugs. The DC assured him that the administration would call this coordination meeting very soon.
