Jamshedpur, July 2: MLA Saryu Roy has penned a letter to the Managing Director of Tata Steel UISL highlighting several issues faced by residents of Azad Nagar Telco. During a recent visit to the area, citizens expressed concerns over significant waterlogging problems, particularly in Azad Market.
In the letter, Saryu Roy explained that a major drainage system, which previously directed sewage towards the Tinplate Pond, was recently rerouted underground. This alteration has inadvertently led to sewage accumulation on the roads of Azad Market, exacerbating waterlogging during rainy and other seasons. This issue, Roy emphasized, demands an urgent and practical solution.
Azad Market, a long-standing commercial hub established nearly 50 years ago, faces additional challenges such as inadequate electrical connections for most shops. Despite regular rent payments to Tata Motors, shopkeepers continue to lack direct electrical connections. Moreover, proper drainage infrastructure for managing road and market water runoff, including the parking area, remains inadequate. Sanitation facilities, including toilets, also pose a significant challenge for local residents, adding to their daily hardships.
In light of these pressing concerns, MLA Saryu Roy urged Tata Steel UISL to promptly address these issues and provide essential public amenities. Roy stressed the importance of ensuring that shopkeepers and customers do not encounter difficulties, especially during the rainy season.
