MLA Saryu Roy Re-Inaugurates Divyajyoti Institute for the Visually Impaired

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy re-inaugurated the Divyajyoti Institute for the Visually Impaired as the Chief Guest today. The Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West and the Rotary Club of Steel City jointly undertook the project. Because the school infrastructure had deteriorated and a severe shortage of funds crippled operations, the student enrollment had steadily declined over the years.

Welcoming the guests, Mr. Ashok Jha, President of the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West, presented an overview of the infrastructure development work that the clubs carried out at the institution. He informed the gathering that through the support of Krishna Murari Gupta, President of the Krishna Murari Trust, the team renovated the school building, constructed a boundary wall, and provided essential furniture, including tables and chairs. He also acknowledged the support of MLA Saryu Roy and JNAC Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, who provided the required permissions to construct the boundary wall.

Rotary Club West and Rotary Club Steel City have jointly taken responsibility for the operation and management of the school. In the first phase, the clubs arranged safe transportation for the students and appointed two regular teachers and one caretaker. The institution can now accommodate approximately 30 students, and the clubs target regular education for all enrolled children within the coming year.

Addressing the gathering, Roy appreciated the efforts of the Rotary Clubs. He announced that if the clubs complete the second phase of the project, his office would facilitate the construction of a hostel on the second floor of the school building for children with disabilities. This project would enable many more visually impaired children to benefit from the institution’s educational facilities.

Gupta also assured continued support for future Rotary initiatives and projects. Reema Bhattacharjee, Director of Divyajyoti School, attended the programme. Mr. Krishna Kharia, President of Rotary Club Steel City, delivered the vote of thanks, while Rotarian Mr. Jitesh Kumar conducted the proceedings.
