DC Flags Off Bike Rally to Promote Drug-Free Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: As part of a district-wide campaign against substance abuse, East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan on Friday flagged off an awareness chariot and bike rally from the Collectorate premises to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug addiction and promote a drug-free society.

The district administration is executing the initiative under the State Government’s guidelines as part of a special awareness drive running from June 10 to June 25 across the district. The campaign aims to educate the public, particularly young people, about the adverse impact of substance abuse on health, families, and society.

Addressing the gathering, Ranjan administered a pledge to participants to stay away from drugs and contribute towards building a healthier society. He emphasized that substance abuse not only damages an individual’s physical and mental well-being but also disrupts family life and social harmony. Urging youth to adopt a positive and healthy lifestyle, he called upon citizens to actively support the district’s de-addiction campaign.

The awareness chariot will travel across blocks, panchayats, urban areas, and educational institutions in East Singhbhum, disseminating information on the dangers of drug abuse, available de-addiction measures, and the benefits of leading a drug-free life. The organizers will use audio messages, publicity materials, and interactive awareness programmes to reach a wider audience.
