MLA Saryu Roy raises concerns, writes letter to DGP and Home Department

Ranchi: MLA Saryu Roy has penned a letter addressed to the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jharkhand and the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department. In the letter, he expressed concern over the alleged detention of Amit Sharma, the Jamshedpur Metropolitan President of Bharatiya Janatran Yuva Morcha, during Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s visit to Jamshedpur on December 6.

According to Saryu Roy, Amit Sharma had previously informed the Barmamines police station about an illegal scrap trade in the area on December 4, urging action against the perpetrators. However, no action was taken by the police station in-charge in response to this information. Subsequently, Amit had warned the police station officer that he would raise the matter with the Chief Minister on December 6.

Reportedly, fearing the exposure of the issue to the Chief Minister, the Station House Officer (SHO) took Amit Sharma into custody on December 6 and kept him detained throughout the day. Saryu Roy, in his letter, has called for action in response to these events, urging an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the detention of Amit Sharma.
