Potka: Potka MLA Menka Sardar laid the foundation of a pond renovation project in Harina village of Potka on Sunday. A large number of villagers including women and BJP leaders were present on the occasion. The project would be completed at a cost of Rs 22 lakh under the Barren Land Development Scheme of the land conservation department.
Addressing the people, the legislator said the pond would greatly benefit local farmers as it would provide water to hundreds of acres of land once it is renovated. She said the farmers will no longer have to depend upon rains for irrigation. She said the farmers will be able to grow vegetables besides sowing paddy. She said dozens of ponds had been dug up in Potka by the land conservation department so far. She asked the people to apprise her of their problems so that the same could be solved in time.
