Saraikela, 23 August: Unidentified miscreants on Saturday night stole batteries from two trucks in Kolabira, under the Sariekela police station. The two trucks were parked� on� the Sariekela � Kandra highway. The trucks with licence plate number JH09AA 5592 and JH 09ANN 6961 were on route to Kharsawan cement factory from Bokaro. At around 1.30am, in Kolabira , the driver and the handyman parked their vehicle and slept in the vehicle cabin. At around 4 in the morning when the diver woke up, he found the batteries of both the trucks were missing.�
According to the driver of JH09AA 5592, Pawan Yadav , the two trucks were on their way from Bokaro to Kharsawan Cement factory. He said they stopped at a dhaba near Kandra late at night to have dinner. Pawan further said that the truck with plate number JH 09ANN 6961 was ahead of him and at around 1.30 am he saw the truck parked at Kolabira. On seeing the truck parked, Yadav approached the driver to check why he had stopped. The driver of the other truck informed Yadav that the headlights of his truck were not operating. Yadav said he too parked his truck and slept in the cabin of his vehicle. When Yadav woke up at four in the morning, he informed the driver of the truck that the battery of his vehicle was missing. Following this, Yadav inspected his own vehicle and found that the battery of his truck was missing as well. The two drivers immediately informed their owners about the theft.
According to local residents, petty crimes is very frequent these days in the villages of Mudia and Birbaas . Prior to this incident, thefts have been reported from a school in Kolabira. Recently, in a school and Panchayat Bhawan in Mudia, a computer and solar light was also stolen. Written complaints have already been filed with the police station, however, no action has been taken so far.
