Minister assures to progress on pending overbridge projects

Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA Deepak Birua raised the issue of construction of the railway overbridge at Chakradharpur in West Singhbhum pending for the last 25 years in the Jharkhand Assembly on
Wednesday.

He said the work was started way back in the year 1989, but despite floating of tender twice or thrice the work could not be taken to completion. He said the local people faced a lot of difficulty as everyday around 110 trains cross the railway crossing.

The Parliamentary affairs minister of the Assembly Rajendra Prasad Singh told the house that the detailed project report of the said project had been sent to the Union road, transport and Highway ministry for approval.

He said an official has been especially deputed for supervising progress of the project work. In another question, the Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Laxman Gilua said the tender had been issued 11 times till date. He said despite so much delay, the work has not been completed as yet.

All Jharkhand Students Union MLA Ramchandra Sahis too, raised the issue of constructing the railway overbridge at
Jugsalai. Replying to his question, Rajendra Prasad Singh said the work will be started in the current year.

He said half of the expenses will be borne by the state government.
