Jamshedpur, Jan 29: MGM Hospital has appointed 42 junior doctors, providing much-needed relief to patients and existing medical staff. The selection was made through interviews conducted on Tuesday, where 55 candidates participated.
The recruitment process had been delayed due to hostel occupancy issues. The hospital superintendent had earlier stated that interviews would not proceed until interns vacated the hostel. However, some interns are yet to leave. “We were instructed to wait, but given the urgent need for doctors, the interviews were finally conducted,” said the hospital principal.
These non-academic junior doctors will serve for a period of one year. Their appointment comes as a significant boost to MGM Hospital, which has been struggling with a doctor shortage. Until now, postgraduate and internal doctors were managing heavy workloads, often working extended hours.
A senior doctor at MGM Hospital expressed relief, saying, “With the arrival of junior doctors, the burden on existing staff will reduce, ensuring better patient care.”
The new recruits will be assigned to various departments, strengthening the hospital’s medical services.
