Jamshedpur: In response to the increasing presence of medical representatives (MRs) at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Medical College Hospital, the hospital administration has issued strict guidelines to regulate their visits. The hospital superintendent has written to all department heads, directing them to ensure that MRs do not meet doctors during OPD (Outpatient Department) hours, as it disrupts patient care.
According to the new directive, MRs will only be allowed to meet doctors after OPD hours. Any violation of this rule could lead to strict action against the concerned MR. “Patients are facing unnecessary trouble due to MRs visiting doctors during OPD hours. This will no longer be tolerated,” said the hospital superintendent.
Hospital authorities have also announced strict monitoring of MR activities within the premises. Surveillance will be increased to ensure compliance and any negligence in following the new rules will not be ignored.
The move aims to streamline patient services and reduce delays in medical consultations. Many patients had complained about having to wait longer due to MRs engaging doctors during duty hours. “We come from far-off places for treatment and waiting unnecessarily because of MRs is frustrating. This step will benefit patients,” said a visitor at MGM Hospital.
The administration has urged doctors to prioritize patient care and refrain from entertaining MRs during working hours. With strict enforcement in place, the hospital hopes to improve efficiency and ensure a smoother experience for patients
