Media Cup Badminton Tournament gets underway in Jamshedpur

Journalists highlight news, sports to shift them under spotlight: Arjun Munda

Jamshedpur, Dec, 4: First Media Cup Badminton Tournament hosted by Press Club of Jamshedpur was inaugurated by the chief guest Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda at Mohan Ahuja Stadium near JRD Tata Sports Complex on Saturday, December 4. The two day tournament will continue till December 5.

Addressing the gathering, Munda said, “Journalists perform their duties with full sincerity and always stay behind the news so that the public remain updated with local, regional, national and international news. They give accurate reports on places and events while they themselves remain away from the spotlight. Now when the press people organise such events like badminton, cricket and other sports, it is their turn to shift under the spotlight.”

Events like this will develop the spirit of sports among the people. He further said that sportspersons across the country are performing better in Olympics.

City SP Subhash Chandra Jat said that media has always been covering such events but for the first time badminton tournament is being organized for the media, which is great thing. The occasion will provide media personnel to do something out of their daily routine, added SP.

Senior journalists Priyesh Sinha, Anand Kumar, Anurag Kashyap, Braj Bhushan Singh, Jai Prakash Rai, former Tata Steel Corporate Communications chief Prabhat Sharma, Press Club of Jamshedpur President Putul Singh, General Secretary Anjani Pandey, Editors, and media personnel were present.
