Industries Minister Inaugurates New Jharcraft Emporium in Bistupur

Jamshedpur: A new Jharcraft Emporium was inaugurated on Main Road, Bistupur, on Monday. The facility was officially opened by Sanjay Prasad Yadav, Jharkhand Minister for Industry, Labour, Planning, Training, and Skill Development, who called for a renewed commitment to the “Vocal for Local” movement.

Empowering Artisans and Cultural Heritage

The emporium, located at Shop No. 1/37, aims to provide a high-visibility platform for the state’s tribal heritage and craftsmanship. During the ceremony—attended by Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan and Jharcraft Managing Director Garima Singh—the Minister emphasized that the state’s artisans are the true custodians of Jharkhand’s cultural legacy.

“This emporium is not just a commercial establishment; it is a vital step toward strengthening the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign,” Minister Yadav stated. He noted that products such as Tussar silk, Dokra art, Sohrai paintings, and bamboo handicrafts are witnessing a surge in global demand.

Jharcraft’s Expanding Footprint

The Minister highlighted the impressive scale of Jharcraft’s operations, which currently supports:

• 25,000+ Weavers and artisans across the state.
• 120 Primary Weavers’ Cooperative Societies and Self-Help Groups.
• 14 Emporiums nationwide, including major hubs in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.

With emporiums already operational in Ranchi, Dhanbad, and Deoghar, the addition of the Bistupur outlet is expected to become a major attraction for Jamshedpur residents while providing dignified livelihoods to rural families.

Government Support for Skill and Marketing

Congratulating the designers and officials involved, the Minister assured the artisan community of continued government backing in terms of skill development, marketing strategies, and economic empowerment. He expressed confidence that the new outlet would significantly elevate the prestige of Jharkhand’s craftsmanship on a larger platform.
