Massive Rs 250 Crore Scam unveiled: Former Energy Minister alleges fictitious investigations in Government Hospitals

Ranchi: Lalchand Mahato, former Energy Minister, has brought to light a staggering scam of Rs 250 crore under the Raghuvar government, supposedly conducted in the guise of investigations in government hospitals. In a press conference held on Saturday, Mahato asserted that the government, up until now, has disbursed over Rs 500 crore to Medol for purported investigations, out of which a fraudulent bill of Rs 250 crore has been exposed.
Mahato has escalated the matter by addressing a letter to the Governor, Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, and the Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, urging a high-level investigation into the alleged malfeasance.
The former minister implicated doctors and civil surgeons in collusion, alleging that this elaborate scheme unfolded with their connivance. Disturbingly, there is compelling evidence suggesting that the investigations, for which substantial sums were disbursed, were never carried out. Instead, money was illicitly obtained from the government through the creation of counterfeit bills.
During the tenure of the Raghuvar government, contracts for the improvement of healthcare services in government hospitals across 12 districts were reportedly awarded to two private agencies through a tender process. The focus was on enhancing medical care for individuals below the poverty line, including free pathological tests. The responsibility for conducting these pathological examinations was assigned to Medal and SRS, the two agencies now under scrutiny in the unfolding scandal.
