Jamshedpur : The three-day Unnati fair at Tulsi Bhawan organised by the local chapter of Marwari Yuva Manch, social organization started on June 21 and will conclude on June 24.
The fair aimed to give a platform to the women entrepreneurs from all over the region to display their products and market them. Nandini Shukla, principal of Kerala Samajam Model School inaugurated the fair on Saturday.
The fair mainly consists of apparel collection from various boutiques in the city, state and from places like Kolkata, Cuttack, Chaibasa, Baroda and Ranchi. However, customers can also get a variety of products like home furnishing items, accessories, bed linens, toys, art work etc.
About 60 stalls have been put up in the fair. From home-made snacks to decorative pieces made out of waste products, an array of products of art and craft grabbed the attention of the people who had gathered for the opening ceremony of fair.
An official said that in a bid to promote women entrepreneurs and artisans and provide them a platform to market their products the fair is being organized. She added that there is no dearth of creativity amongst the women and they must be promoted in the field of trading. She inspected the fair and lauded the designer products displayed by the participants.
Participants from different areas including Ranchi, Kolkata, Ghatshila, Chakradharpur, Chakulia, Chandil, Musabani and Jaipur are participating. Women entrepreneurs dealing in products like diamond jewellary, cosmetics, readymade garments and other gift items are participating in the fair.
The fair is a brainchild of the senior members of the Manch, who wanted promote women in the field of commerce. There are number of women who have talents and produce number of products like pots, pickles, designer wears, paintings and other host of decorative pieces.
It may be mentioned that Marwari YUva Manch, a city-based social and cultural organisation, is dedicated towards women empowerment. It regularly undertakes series of programme for the welfare of the society.
