Jamshedpur : Jamshedpur MP, Vidyut Baran Mahto and local legislator Raghubar Das have joined the protesters today who are demanding immediate arrest of Goldi involved in murder of Arun Namata near his house at Mahanand Bustee in Jemco.
On Sunday morning local residents put up a blockade at Jemco Chowk to protest the murder of Arun Namata (32) near his house at Mahanand Bustee in Jemco under Telco police station area last evening.
Goldi Singh, who is the nephew of the slain transporter Dalbir Singh Birre, shot dead Namata following a dispute over transaction of money. Namata who was a gym instructor at Telco Club, was rushed to the Tata Motors Hospital, where he was declared as brought dead.
According to police, Namata had taken a loan of Rs 40,000 from Goldi on interest four months ago and was paying the interest on time. But, for the past two months he was not paying the interest, causing Goldi, who has a transport business, to ask Namata for clearing the loan as early as possible.
In morning today several residents of Jemco supported by BJP activists staged a demonstration at the Jemco Chowk to protest the murder . Later, Jamshedpur MP, Vidyut Baran Mahto and local legislator Raghubar Das also joined the protesters who were demanding immediate arrest of Goldi .
The protestors withdrew their blockade after sub-divisional officer, Dhalbhum Prem Ranjan and senior superintendent of police, Amol V Homkar reached the spot assured them that the administration will take steps to arrest the accused.
Senior SP, Homkar said that the they have seized the border areas of the city and a stenr search operation is being carried. Pistol and car of Goldi have already been seized and now they were trying to arrest the culprit who is absconding.
After the post-mortem was over, the body was carried to the victim’s house at about 3 pm. The administration had deployed adequate police forces at Jemco apprehending trouble during the arrival of the murder victim’s body for the last rites.
According to police, Namata owe a loan of Rs 40,000 from Goldi on interest four months ago and was paying the interest on time. But, for the past two months he was not able to pay the interest, which annoyed the accused.
“Last evening, Goldi came near Namata’s house seeking money and Goldi took out his licensed pistol and shot thrice from close range at Namata,” said a police officer. Having fired the shots, Goldi sped away in his car.
