Jamshedpur, August 10 : In an another attempt to trigger fear among the villagers, suspected ultras resorted to poster campaign, Porahat area under Karaikela police station of West Singhbhum district. The rebels have warned the �police informers� and have been asked to be brought in public. Sources informed that the posters were put last night and have been targeted at �police sympathizers�.
Meanwhile, a suspected Maoist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Gudri police station area of West Singhbhum district. The encounter took place in Thalkobeda forest bordering Khunti district when a team of CRPF and district police launched a joint operation in the area, West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police Inderjeet Mahatha said.
The security forces had received a tip off about the movement of Maoists in the area. As they reach the forest, the Maoists opened fire at the security forces and in the retaliatory firing that followed, one of them was killed, the SP said.
Meanwhile, the security forces also recovered can bomb from Dalma area. �We cannot reveal on the status of the operation due to security reasons but yes we have started combing operation,� said a district police official. Police said that the security has been beefed up in the area and they were keeping strict vigil on movement of the Naxlites. �There has been a substantial increase in Maoist activities in this area. We are not much concerned about small acts of violence because these activities can be controlled by us, but the bigger attacks are worrisome,� said a security official.
Sources informed that there are intelligence inputs that CPI (Maoist) may indulge in demonstrative acts of violence by targeting security forces and economic infrastructure such as trains, buses, railway stations, bus stations and other places where people are likely to gather in significant numbers. �A strict vigil would be kept on the non-government commercial establishments. Even the security would be beefed up at some of the naxal prone areas,� said a police official.
