Jamshedpur, March 21: The Department of Community Medicine, Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC), in collaboration with the Jharkhand State AIDS Control Society (JSACS), conducted a one-day workshop on “Sensitization for Private Medical Practitioners and Faculty of MTMC on NACP-V.” The event aimed to enhance awareness and strengthen the healthcare response to HIV/AIDS by educating private practitioners on the latest updates under Phase V of the National AIDS Control Program (NACP-V).
Held at TMA Pai Hall, New Academic Block, MTMC, Baridih, the workshop was conducted under the guidance of the Head of the Department of Community Medicine and the patronage of Dr. G. Pradeep Kumar, Dean, MTMC. The event was graced by Dr. Badal Chandra Bhakat, Joint Director (CST), JSACS; Dr. Debasish Chakraborty, Deputy Director (Mainstreaming); and Mr. Sriharsha Mohanty, CBE, PHFI, as chief dignitaries. They commended MTMC’s proactive efforts and emphasized the significance of such initiatives in improving healthcare services and ensuring better support for People Living with HIV (PLHIV).

Key discussions focused on: updates on NACP-V and its implementation, HIV & AIDS (Prevention & Control) Act, 2017, emphasizing patient rights, Management of PLHIV, including treatment, referrals, and infection prophylaxis, Strengthening linkages to improve treatment access, Universal precautions and advanced treatment strategies.
With around 50 participants from various MTMC departments, the workshop facilitated meaningful discussions, reinforcing the crucial role of private practitioners in HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. The event was hailed as a resounding success, reflecting MTMC’s commitment to enhancing HIV/AIDS awareness and healthcare delivery in Jharkhand.
