Mandatory dress code and ID cards for parking attendants in Jamshedpur: DC orders action

Jamshedpur, Mar 5: The Deputy Commissioner of Jamshedpur, Ananya Mittal, has directed the city’s transport officials to take necessary action regarding the absence of a mandatory dress code and ID cards for parking attendants. This directive follows a complaint by local social worker Sadan Thakur, who raised concerns over illegal parking fee collection and related criminal activities.

Thakur had initially reported the issue to the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (NAC), but after no action was taken, he escalated the matter to the DC. “Anti-social elements are illegally collecting parking fees and if anyone protests, they are assaulted,” Thakur stated in his complaint.

Responding to the complaint, District Transport Officer (DTO) Dhananjay has written to the Jamshedpur NAC, Mango Municipal Corporation and Jugsalai Municipal Council, urging them to enforce regulations. His letter highlights that the absence of designated uniforms and ID cards allows unauthorized individuals to exploit parking spaces, often issuing unofficial receipts lacking serial numbers or an officer’s signature.

Thakur has demanded that the municipal bodies ensure official receipts bear the signature of a competent officer and include a contact number. He also urged that all parking attendants wear uniforms and carry ID cards to bring transparency and accountability to the system.
