Jamshedpur: An elephant critically injured a man by trampling him in Ghotiduba village of Ghatsila on Sunday. The victim, identified as Satya Ranjan Das, was taken to MGM Hospital where his condition was reportedly serious.
Police said a herd of wild elephants entered Asma village around 5 am today. A group of villagers tried to scare away the elephants towards the jungle. On the way, Das came in front of an elephant who trampled one of his legs. Das sustained multiple fractures and injury in other body parts.
Elephants have killed several people in local villages in the last several years.
