Jamshedpur: The deputy commissioner (DC) of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar on Wednesday termed malnutrition as a major challenge before the state government, district administration and the society. He said the problem could be solved only through dedicated efforts. He said the entire country was facing this problem.
Kumar was speaking on the occasion of a workshop-cum-felicitation programme organized for anganbari sevikas by Newscode at The Milanee, Bistupur. He inaugurated the event as the chief guest. He felicitated several anganbari sevikas for their outstanding work and presented each of them shawl, memento and an appreciation letter.
The DC said the problem of malnutrition could be solved through creation of awareness among the people. He said collective efforts were needed to make the people aware so that malnutrition may be eradicated for once and all.
Also present on the occasion, CDPO Durgesh Nandini said the anganbari sevikas had a vital role to play in eradicating malnutrition from the state. Nandini informed the sevikas about the various causes and symptoms of malnutrition and the ways to cure them.
The other dignitaries present at the event included international boxer Aruna Mishra, Inder Agrawal of Adityapur Small Industries Association, Rupesh Katiar of Laghu Udyog Bharati, social activist Jawahar Lal Sharma, social worker RK Sinha and BJP spokesperson Rajesh Kumar Shukla.
