Jamshedpur, Sept. 20: Students of Motilal Nehru Public School (MNPS) can now rejoice as the heavy load of bag they grudgingly carry every day to school is all set to become lighter. MNPS started a campaign Bhaar Pe Waar’ on the occasion of Backpack Awareness Day on September 20.
The theme of the initiative is ‘Pack it light, wear it right’.
At the event students of the primary classes weighed their bags. They also weighed themselves wearing bags to make teachers and parents aware of the increasing burden of bags and to pack bags according to time table and look at ways of keeping it light.
As per guidelines the school bag should not weigh more than 2kg for students of class I and II and less than 3kg for class III and IV.
All were informed that the ideal weight of the bag should not exceed 15% of the body weight.
The project was initiated by Safe Club moderator Suchismita Chakarborty and Smita Das.
