Make effort to contribute to rural development : Kalam at BAU

Ranchi, May 19: Former President APJ Abdul Kalam felicitated 40 students of Birsa Agriculture University(BAU), Ranchi with gold medals at the Convocation ceremony on Wednesday.

At the event 650 students were offered degrees were Governor Draupadi Murmu, CM Raghuvar Das along with Governor’s Principal Secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni, Agriculture Director Jatashankar Choudhary,
MD of Jharkhand State Agriculture Marketing Board Rajkumar and others were present.

Addressing the 5the Convocation, Kalam said that mechanised farming, value addition, marketing of agro
products, crop growth, soil suited fertilisers, proper irrigation, cold storage, multi-cropping and food
processing infrastructure would mitigate the distress of farmers and improve food productivity.

He also laid stress on use of new technology, skill training and setting up of agri-clinic in every block.

The former president advised the graduates and post graduates to make effort to contribute to rural
development and tribal development.
