Majority of villagers support liquor ban in Rajdoha, poll reveals

Jamshedpur: In a public voting on the issue of banning liquor in Rajdoha village of Jadugora, 1001 people voted for prohibition while only five voted against it. The voting was conducted by the Mahila Samiti members of Rajdoha to get public opinion on the issue. The votes of 14 persons were cancelled. The opinion of villagers was collected through slips collected from 202 households. Those supporting prohibition on liquor put a tick mark on the slips while those against it put a cross mark on it.

The polling agents Mohan Soren and Shailendra Murmu counted the votes in the presence of all villagers. The Mahila Samiti president Anita Murmu said the people of the village would continue agitation till the village gets rid of alcoholism. She said a letter would be sent to Chief Minister Raghubar Das to make the village alcohol-free. She said the help of police and excise department would also be sought in this regard.
