Ranchi: State Congress working committee members today opposed by a majority the alliance with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ahead of the Assembly elections while demanding that the party should contest the elections on its own.

The committee members held a meeting at Congress Bhavan. Presiding over the meeting, state Congress president Sukhdev Bhagat said the decision on alliance and names of candidates will be finalized soon by the party leadership.

Many committee members and district presidents sought information on the alliance and partys final decision on alliance.

The assistant in-charge of the party Tarachand Bhagora said the decision would soon be made public.

It was unanimously decided to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru on 14th November at district and block level. The membership drive of the party was also reviewed at the meeting.
