Jamshedpur : Jamshedpur today turned into election mode soon after announcements of the assembly polls by the Election Commission of India. East Singhbhum district administration initiated a drive to ensure that political parties remove illegal hoardings and posters from different roads and roundabout of the city.
The DC East Singhbhum Amitabh Kaushal said that after announcements of elections the model code of conduct has been enforced and the parties should strictly adherence to the model code of conduct.
He said the parties should immediately remove their publicity banners and hoardings from the city. Moreover none of the political party can organise any meeting or procession without any prior permission.
�We will make sure that the model code of conduct is implemented in letter and spirit and any lapses on the part of the parties would invite stern actions,� said district official.
Most of the hoardings have been put up by the parties like BJP, Congress and JMM.
�After the directions we are removing all this publicity material in view of the enforcement of election code of conduct,�� said Congress leader.
Sources informed that the administration is charged up for the Assembly polls. The process to identify the sensitive polling booths is on. Apart from identifying the naxal infested areas, stress would be given on those booths where the communication system is not available. A detailed report of security personnel required would be prepared by the police administration.
The DC also said that any attempt to influence voters in the name of religious sentiments will be strictly dealt under The Representation of the People�s Act 1951 and IPC as this would be violation of the model code of conduct which was enforced in the district with the declaration of Assembly elections.
A circular was also issued that NGOs having patronage of various political leaders cannot set up stalls with large hoardings on the approach roads to different chhath ghats. Similarly, during Muharram processions, various political parties cannot set up drink stalls for the devotees.
The parties� representatives were told that the nomination papers can be filed from November 7 till November 14. The nomination can be withdrawn till November 17 and the date of poll would be on December 2.
