Dhanbad: In a devastating incident on Thursday night at 9:15 pm, a massive fire erupted in the transformer repairing workshop of the Dhanbad Area Board of Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL). The blaze quickly engulfed the facility, causing extensive damage and resulting in the destruction of transformers and other equipment valued at crores of rupees.
The workshop, situated behind Dhanbad Sadar Police Station, was reportedly empty as employees had concluded their work by 7:00 pm and had left for the day. Security was maintained by five guards on the premises. The fire, which began around 9:15 pm, escalated rapidly, catching the guards and nearby individuals off guard.
Immediate notifications were sent to JBVNL officials and the fire department. However, it took an hour for four fire department vehicles to arrive at the scene one by one. Despite the firefighting efforts, the flames had already consumed a substantial amount of equipment, including transformers, and scrap worth over Rs 50 lakh.
