Major Drug Bust in Hazaribagh: Five Arrested Including Woman Involved in Brown Sugar Trade

Hazaribagh: In a significant crackdown on narcotics, the Sadar police station has apprehended five drug dealers, including a woman, involved in the buying and selling of brown sugar. Acting on confidential information, SP Arvind Kumar Singh directed a raid near Lakshmi Talkies and Banshilal Chowk, leading to the arrests.
During the operation, the police seized 25.3 grams of brown sugar, four mobile phones, an electronic weighing machine, and Rs 40,160 in cash. Sadar police station in-charge, Inspector Lalit Kumar, reported that the arrested individuals were identified as Devashish Chandra, Chhotan Sav, Sushma Devi, Sandeep Vishwakarma, and Ashok Kumar.
The accused were allegedly conducting the illegal trade in various locations within the city, posing a threat to the youth and children in the vicinity. The police, under the leadership of Sadar SDPO Mahesh Prajapati, swiftly conducted raids and apprehended the suspects.
Devashish Chandra, aged around 35, from Hari Nagar Police Station Sadar, Chhotan Sao, aged 43, from Dad Police Station Katkamsandi, Sushma Devi, aged 58, Sandeep Vishwakarma, aged 34, and Ashok Kumar, aged 22, were taken into custody. The raid also uncovered paraphernalia associated with brown sugar consumption, including a Rs 10 note wrapped in a bidi shape containing an aluminum file used for drug intake.
A case under the NDPS Act (case number 16/24) has been registered at the Sadar police station. The arrested individuals are now slated to be remanded to judicial custody. The successful operation involved collaboration between Sadar police station, Bada Bazar OP, and Mahila police station.
