Superstitious act in Dhanbad: Son-in-law buries father-in-law’s body in courtyard

Dhanbad: In a shocking incident driven by superstition, a son-in-law in the East Basuria area allowed the burial of his deceased father-in-law’s body in the courtyard of his own house, sparking sensation in the locality. Munna Ansari, a resident of Nichhani number one under East Basuria OP area, brought the body of his father-in-law, Asgar Ali, from Nichitpur township and buried it in the house’s courtyard, prompting protests from nearby residents.

The news reached the East Basuria Police, who reported the incident to Baghmara CO (Circle Officer) currently investigating a separate case in the area. The CO, accompanied by East Basuria in-charge Upendra Kumar, District Council member Israfil alias Lala, and Chief Bhimlal Rajak, reached the scene.

Upon inquiry, Munna Ansari justified his actions by providing various religious explanations, citing the natural death of his father-in-law. He even spoke about constructing a tomb over the grave. Despite initial resistance, Munna Ansari eventually agreed to exhume the body, and the administration supervised the process. Following this, the deceased will be buried in the cemetery as per Muslim customs, putting an end to the superstitious act that had alarmed the local community.
