Funded by MLA Saryu Roy, outfit serves 150 on inaugural day

Jamshedpur, Feb 20: Sri Balaji Annapurna midday meal outlet was inaugurated at Baridih on Sunday. Funded by the Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy, the outlet would serve lunch at just Rs 5.

The chief guest of the inaugural ceremony was Vidyanand Saraswati, priest of Pardih Kali Mandir. Other special guests included Ashok Bhalotia, Ramesh Agrawal, Dilip Goel, Arun Bankrewal, Umesh Sah, Sunil Bagdoria, Nitesh Dhut, Manoj Kauntia and Ashok Goel.

The chief guest and other dignitaries chanted vedic mantras to mark the inauguration of the outlet. Priests Vinod Pandey, Vipin Jha, Harendra Tiwary and Sanjay Tiwary of Shitla Mandir, Sakchi, performed a puja on the occasion. On the first day, over 150 people were served food at the outlet.

Roy said the mid-day meal outlet was run on trial basis since 15^th Feb last. Now the outlet has started functioning in a full-fledged manner, he said, adding that the menu would include rice, dal, sazi and pickles. The vegetable item would be changed every day, he said.

Roy said initially 100 people would be served at the outlet. Later, the serving capacity would be enhanced, he said.

Three local women will monitor the services at the outlet.

Many Bharatiya Jantantra Morcha members were present during the inauguration. They included Ram Narayan Sharma, Subodh Srivastava, Hareram Singh, Sanjeev Acharya, Akash Saha, Rajesh Jha, Chandragupt Singh and Pappu Singh Suryavanshi.
