Jamshedpur, Feb 20: A group of residents of Nanaknagar, Tinplate, have demanded installation of a statue of former Jamshedpur East MLA late Dinanath Pandey in the marketplace. Members of Bharatiya Jantantra Yuva Morcha Jamshedpur and local traders have also supported their demand. The local residents have sent a memorandum with the above demand to the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Suraj Kumar. They said late Pandey was a popular public figure and a respected man of the city. He said the young generation will get to know about the former leader. There is a vacant place in the Sanjay Sadbhavana Market at Tinplate Chowk, Golmuri, where the statue can be installed, they said.
The residents alleged that certain people eyeing the proposed site of statue installation wanted to encroach the land and hence opposed their demand.
