Jamshedpur, Dec 13: Loyola School on Friday organised interactive session with around forty van drivers in the school premises. The primary agenda of the meeting was to reinforce the importance of student safety, adherence to traffic rules, and providing a platform to the drivers to voice their problems and concerns.
Many very pertinent and relevant issues were discussed in the meeting. Father Principal emphasised the need to be extremely cautious in the behaviour with the students. Enlightening them about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Guidelines, Father cautioned them against any kind of deviant behaviour.
Later, during a candid discussion, the drivers shared various challenges they face in their daily routines. Together with the management, solutions were brainstormed to address these issues effectively.
The drivers were told that they too are a part and parcel of the school and therefore have a key role to play in the lives of the children they ferry to and from school. Their responsibility does not end at picking them from home and dropping them off at school. They need to show role model behaviour while they are with the children.
The occasion was also one of celebration as a few van drivers were felicitated for their long association with the School. Some of them have been ferrying Loyoleans since 1992. Fr Vinod Fernandes congratulated the drivers and expressed his gratitude to them for their selfless service over the years.
Also present on the occasion were Jayanthi Sheshadri, Vice Principal of the Senior Section, and Vineeta Ekka, Vice Principal of the Junior Section.
The meeting ended with fellowship, reinforcing the bond between the stakeholders.
