Jamshedpur: Jharkhand woke up to a biting chill as a cold wave swept through most parts of the state, with temperatures dipping below 10°C in several districts. Jamshedpur recorded a minimum temperature of 9.6°C on Thursday, marking a significant drop as the cold wave debuted in the region.
Meteorological data highlighted a sharp decline in minimum temperatures across the state. Ranchi, the capital, recorded a low of 10°C, while Daltonganj experienced the coldest conditions at 7.9°C. Bokaro registered 8.1°C, and temperatures in Deoghar, Dhanbad, Hazaribag, and Pakur hovered around 8°C.
The chill was accentuated by the absence of any major synoptic activity, with no significant weather systems currently affecting the state. Instead, a steady flow of crisp, cold north-westerly winds has been dominating Jharkhand’s weather, bringing the mercury down.
The Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast indicating that cold wave conditions are likely to persist in isolated pockets, particularly in the western and some north-eastern districts of Jharkhand, over the next 24 hours.
Residents are advised to prepare for colder days ahead as the state braces for the full onset of winter. The current weather conditions are expected to further intensify if the north-westerly winds persist.
With the mercury taking a dive, winter has truly arrived in Jharkhand, and the chill is being felt across its major cities and towns.
