Jamshedpur, Feb 3: ‘Take pride in how far you have come. Have faith in how far you can go. But don’t forget to enjoy the journey.’ That was the reigning philosophy as the graduating batch of Std XII with their flowing gowns and graduating hats marched through the portals of Loyola School with pride and a sense of responsibility to embark on the new threshold of their lives.
The bittersweet moments were filled with prayers, valedictory speeches, songs and mixed emotions, ranging from sad goodbyes to happy tears of excitement for what lay ahead.
The grand ceremony commenced with the customary academic procession led by Prahlad Nair which was followed by the auspicious lighting of the lamp by the school’s management along with the class teachers of the outgoing batch. The welcome address was delivered by Fr. K.M. Joseph S.J, Rector, Loyola School. Prayers were delivered by a student and a teacher. Sanjeev Varshney , parent of Madhav Varshney shared his sentiments and sought divine blessings for the graduating students. The hall resonated with mellifluous songs presented by the school choir. Certificates, souvenirs and special awards were given to recognize the holistic development of students.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Vinod Fernandes, Principal, Loyola School, congratulated the students for successfully completing their formal schooling, the importance of upholding the Jesuit values they had imbibed in school and urged them to try following the principle of others before self. The teachers lit the candles held by the students as a symbol of moving from darkness to enlightenment, thereby handing over the guiding light of everlasting knowledge and wisdom. The final rendition of the school song in unison was touching as a momentous 14 year long precious sojourn reached its culmination.
