Literature helps to connect to people worldwide: Dr. Anita Gupta

Jamshedpur, Dec. 13: The Association of British Scholars (ABS), Jamshedpur Chapter, celebrated Sacred Bonds at Centre for Excellence auditorium on Saturday. The event was organized to pay tribute to the Irish poet William Butler Yeats on his 150th birth anniversary and commemorate the 150 years of publication of Alice in Wonderland.

During the celebration, Jamshedpur-based writer Usha Rajagopalan�s book �A Bond So Sacred� was also released by Dr. Anita Gupta, president of ABS, Jamshedpur Chapter. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Gupta said, �It is a moment of pride for ABS that it is launching second book of Usha.�

Earlier in 2008, ABS launched a collection of short stories. She further threw light on the life and times of Irish writer William Butler Yeats. Dr. Anita said, �Through literature people all over the world are connected in one streak and this is the reason we are celebrating the birth anniversary of William Butler and he had a deep connection with India. �

Informing about the ABS Jamshedpur Chapter, Dr. Gupta said, it was in the year 2003 that this chapter was established and currently there are 26 chapters all over the country. ABS is working in the field of art, culture and education.

Writer Usha said her new book �A Bond So Sacred� is dedicated to the Satyagrahi of the country and the story is about anonymous people who fought for the country�s Independence. According to Usha, the new book is based on facts-fiction through which stories through the lips of the freedom fighters have been narrated.
At the event, Usha also recited the poem of Tamil poet, Mahakavi Subramania Bharati in English.

At the stage Sharat Chandra, director KPS Schools, listening to the poems gave it a creative touch which was highly praised by all. During the program, Dr. Smriti Marathe presented songs while Laksmi Sharat presented gratifying dance. Convener of the program was Ashu Tiwary, principal Motilal Nehru Public School (MNPS) while Dr. Mita Tarafadar, scientist, NML extended the vote of thanks. At the program several distinguished people were present.
