Jamshedpur: Joint teams of district police and excise department raided eight illicit liquor godowns and recovered a huge amount of country-made and foreign liquor on Saturday.
The raid took place at Chota Banki under MGM police station area and Sukpada village. During the raid at five godowns in Chota Banki and 3 in Sukpada were closed down. From these two places 10,000 litres of Mahua, 1200 liters of country-made liquor, 13.5 liters of foreign liquor and 7.8 liters of beer were seized.
Police arrested Bhawtaran Mahato from a godown. Several other members of the racket reportedly fled the raid scene. An FIR has been lodged at Sakchi Police Station in this connection.
