Jusco launches awareness drive on water conservation

Jamshedpur: Jusco managing director Mr Ashish Mathur, Jusco, inaugurated an awareness drive at Jubilee Park on Saturday on the occasion of World Water Day.

The Jusco MD said the objective of the initiative is to make people aware of the importance of water and how as responsible human beings we conserve it for our future generation.

Among others present during the function included captain D Mishra, Mr A P Singh, Mr Rajesh Rajan, Mr Arnab Ghosh, Mr S Halder, Mr Rajvardhan, Mr Sanjeev Jha, Mr SriLal, Mr S L Das, Mr B K Dubey, Mr R K Pandey, and other Senior Members from Team JUSCO and Union Officials.

Speaking during the function Mr Mathur said that water is a depleting natural resource and one should work towards conserving and recycling the existing source. JUSCO is working on a comprehensive plan for recycling the waste water and at the same time create awareness amongst the consumers for conservation. It is the responsibility of each and every individual to conserve water and spread the message across the society. He further said that we must preserve the mother earth for our future generations.

After the flag-off, teams comprising members from Water Division went around to different locations in town and organised awareness drive. The team visited Sonari Joggers Park, Bhatia Park, Nildih Park, Sidhgora Park, Agrico Park Golmuri Park, Ghorabhanda and Tata Motors Township and distributed awareness pamphlets amongst the residents.

Ashish Mathur also went and inspected the new system installed for irrigating the central and side verges of roads with reuse of wastewater from drains. It is an excellent example of how one can reuse the waste water for irrigation purpose and save the precious drinking water that can be used for those who really wanted it.

Working for the last almost 6 months Juscos water division has set up drip irrigation system in the entire stretch of the Kadma-Sonari Link and Air Port Road. In the earlier system, the trees/ plants along the road use to be irrigated with the raw water from River Pump House. But with the new system in place, the irrigation will now be done through the treated waste water from the house and drains along the road.
