LIC East Central Zone Selection Trials Begin in Hazaribagh

Winners to Be Decided on Friday

Hazaribagh, July 9: The two-day East Central Zone Selection Trials of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) began on Thursday at Canary Hill, Hazaribagh. The tournament, being held on July 9 and 10, has brought together participants from various LIC divisions across the East Central Zone.

The event was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in the presence of Regional Manager (HRD) Emmanuel Kerketta, Senior Divisional Manager Birendra Kumar, Marketing Manager Pavan Bhengra, Personnel Manager Daniel Soren and Sports Promotion Board members Sudhanshu Bhushan Mishra and Chargen Kujur.

Carrom and chess competitions are being held as part of the selection trials. A total of 42 players are participating, including 21 competitors each in chess and carrom, with both men’s and women’s categories represented.

One of the main attractions of the event is KiranManishaMohanty, a Junior Woman Grandmaster who has represented both LIC and India in international tournaments. She was the runner-up at the Asian Junior Girls Championship in 2006 and is the first woman from Odisha to earn the title of Woman International Master.

The chess competition is being officiated by International Arbiter Chandan Kumar Prasad and senior national arbiter SuchitraChakraborty, while national referees Jeevan Kumar Thapa and Jalaj G are supervising the carrom events.

The Personnel Department of the Hazaribagh Division, the Sports Committee and the organising committee have made arrangements for the successful conduct of the tournament. The winners of the selection trials will be decided after the final rounds on Friday.
