Baharagora: Legal Literacy Club was formed at Tarapad Sarangi DAV Public School in Baharagora on Sunday. The chief guest of the occasion was human rights and RTI activist Jawaharlal Sharma. He lit a ceremonial lamp to inaugurate the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Sharma said there were numerous laws to safeguard the rights of children. Sharma said children have their rights against inequality, child labour, illiteracy and various other social evils.
Also present on the occasion, Bini Sarangi, president of the school, said the formation of such clubs would greatly create awareness in the minds of the people regarding various laws. Teacher Loknath Sao was elected secretary while Milan Sas, Sarala Kisku, Konika Sao and Chandana Baskey were elected members on behalf of teachers. Student Saikat Ghosh was elected secretary on behalf of the students. Thirty more students were made students of the Club.
Other dignitaries present during the programme included Manoranjan Raut, Satish Chandra Bhol, Swarn Kamal Mohanty, RK Satpathy, Alice Marandi and Principal Anoop Kumar.
